I discovered photography at an early age, through a 6^th grade darkroom class. In my mind, I can still see the black and white photo, of my sister silhouetted in the doorway, that showed me how a photo truly can convey a mood. Since then I have always had a camera, but it was a back-shelf hobby until the instant gratification – and unlimited film – of digital photography reignited the spark.

I live in the city, but find nature a compelling subject. And photography is a part of my everyday life, as well as all my travels. I’m particularly attracted to subjects that explore shape, color, and detail in both the natural world and the built environment, but lately, with travels to Arizona, Australia, and Patagonia, I've focused more than usual on landscapes.

A current interest is to use my photos as a jumping-off point to create digital manipulations. All the images included in the “Digital Paintings” portfolio started with a photo I shot, with adjustments to create a new effect.  

The photos on the website change as I have new material to display. And I add new galleries periodically, so please check back to see new projects.
